Midweek Prayer Meeting and Bible Study 7.30pm-9.00pm
On a Wednesday evening we meet at 7.30pm to pray together, praising and thanking God, and making requests for the needs of the Church family and friends, for our mission partners and for the needs of the world. This is followed at 8.15pm by our Bible Study. This takes one of two formats. Our Bible studies are usually taken by our Pastor, Tim, who leads a question guided discussion based on one of the Sunday’s sermons. Other invited speakers lead our studies in a format more like our services on Sunday. The meeting takes place in the room behind the Church, which is accessed by the side door in the car park. Everyone is welcome to join us.
From time to time we invite guest speakers to come to Guernsey and address topics which we believe are relevant and meaningful to our lives. Such meetings are held in public venues with easy access for all. All of our speakers have experience in public speaking and are engaging to hear, usually having first hand experience of or expertise in the chosen topic. These events are organized free of charge. Each meeting is advertised here. Please follow this link for more information on the next up-coming event.
LIFT – Ladies Informal Fellowship Time
Once a month the ladies of the Church meet on a Saturday morning between 9.15am and 10.45am for a time of fellowship together. We begin with half an hour to chat over a light breakfast. We then move on to a café style discussion on a topic relevant to our lives. Our time is usually divided into short activities and feedback sessions. Each month is a stand alone topic. We end our time together with a time of prayer. Please ask us for this year’s dates if you would like to come along. New faces are always welcome.
Once a month on a Saturday morning between 9.15am and 10.45am (at the same time as the ladies) the men also meet in The Manse for a time of fellowship over a hearty breakfast cooked by the Pastor, followed by a discussion based on a theme of current interest. Please ask us for this year’s dates if you would like to come along. Others are always welcome.
La Villiaze Church hosts ‘Grace Fellowship’ as a forum for fellowship between churches and other individuals. This has been in existence for over forty years. Twice or three times a year we invite a guest (often from the UK) to speak on an aspect of a topic which fits within our theme for the year. We seek to address issues of contemporary and practical importance. You would be very welcome to come along to any of the meetings. For information about ‘Grace Fellowship’ this year please follow the link.
Visits to Retirement Homes
We currently visit one local retirement home (as part of a rota based team) where we take a short service at their Friday Evening Fellowship.
During certain school holidays we run Discovery Days for primary aged children and their parents / carers. These have a given theme, and involve crafts, games and an age-appropriate Bible lesson. We also provide and enjoy lunch, so we can all eat together. Discovery Days will be advertised in the run up to them, and we vary which school holiday we hold them in.
Occasionally, as we have a group, we run short courses in different people’s homes, with the aim of growing and developing our faith. This usually involves the group having a meal together before working through the course material in a relaxed and discussion based format. Previously this has included Two Ways to Live and The Course of Your Life. Courses will be advertised as and when they are offered.
